Frequently asked questions

How much home loan can I get on a ₹50,000 salary?

With a 50% FOIR, 8.5% interest and a 20-year tenure, you can afford an EMI of ₹25,000, which supports a loan of about ₹28.8 lakh, if you have no other EMIs.

What is FOIR?

FOIR (fixed obligation to income ratio) is the share of your monthly income that can go towards all EMIs. Banks usually allow 40–60%, higher for higher incomes.

How much down payment is needed?

RBI allows banks to lend up to 90% of the property value for loans up to ₹30 lakh, 80% up to ₹75 lakh and 75% above that. You pay the rest plus stamp duty and registration.
