About this calculator
A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) invests a fixed amount in a mutual fund every month. Because you buy units regularly, you average out the purchase price over market ups and downs, and returns compound over time.
This calculator uses the future value of an annuity due: FV = P × ((1 + i)^n − 1) / i × (1 + i), where P is the monthly amount, i is the monthly rate of return and n is the number of months. With a step-up, the monthly amount increases once every 12 months and the value is computed month by month.
Frequently asked questions
How much will ₹10,000 per month in SIP become in 15 years?
At an assumed 12% annual return, ₹10,000 a month for 15 years (₹18 lakh invested) grows to about ₹50.5 lakh. The actual value depends on market returns.
What is a step-up SIP?
A step-up (or top-up) SIP increases your monthly investment by a fixed percentage every year. Even a 10% annual step-up can increase the final corpus substantially over 15–20 years.
Are SIP returns guaranteed?
No. Mutual fund returns depend on the market. The calculator assumes a constant annual return to give an estimate. Real returns vary from year to year.
Is SIP better than a lumpsum investment?
A SIP spreads your investment over time and reduces the risk of investing everything at a market peak. A lumpsum can earn more if markets rise steadily after you invest. Many investors use both.
